Arklow Marine Services
Arklow Marine Services offers expert services to the marine industry in Ireland and abroad, from boat building, repair and refurbishment, to offshore operation and maintenance (O&M).
We are a family run business that has been in operation in Arklow, Co. Wicklow, for over 150 years. Now the company is headed up by brothers John Tyrrell, an I. Eng. AMI qualified Marine Engineer from Cork Regional College, Ireland and Billy Tyrrell, a BSc. qualified Naval Architect, from Hogere Technische School, Haarlem, Holland.
While John and Billy are both professionally qualified, they appreciate the invaluable knowledge, skills and expertise handed down to them, and learned firsthand from their late father Willie Tyrrell. This unique combination has enabled them to develop Arklow Marine Services into the leading boat builders in Ireland.
Boat Builders Since 1846
Arklow Marine Services is a family business that has been in the Tyrrell family for over 150 years.
The family has established itself as the most experienced boat manufacturers in Ireland and has been located in Arklow since 1864. Over the years, the art of boat building has evolved through many phases, from traditional timber boat building, to steel boat building, with the latest innovation being the use of aluminium in the building of high speed vessels.
John and Billy, with their combined experience in marine engineering and naval architecture, manage the business and lead a team of highly skilled workers, including their brother Peter and numerous other family members over the years, such as their father Willie Tyrrell and their brother Michael Tyrrell.
